Meeting Schedule for The Sons of the Desert NYC

Date: Friday, April 12, 2024
Time: 7:30 to 10:30

The New York Founding Tent meets monthly at The Church of the Transfiguration, founded in 1848 and home of The Episcopal Actors' Guild since 1923. "The Little Church Around the Corner," as it is commonly known, has welcomed theatrical legends including Edwin Booth, Joseph Jefferson, Basil Rathbone, Tallulah Bankhead, Joan Fontaine, Rex Harrison, and Charlton Heston, so we are in great company!

Meeting Guidelines

There is no formal dress code as there was at our former location of The Players, but please dress respectably. We can bring refreshments and snacks, but no alcoholic beverages are permitted on the premises. Also, it is our responsibility to clean up after our meeting and leave the room as we found it.

Our April Film Lineup

Spring is finally upon us, and our April Meeting looks to be a fun one! April is also tax season and we have a funny episode of "Car 54, Where Are You?" from 1961: “Home Sweet Sing-Sing,” in which Gunther & Francis use extraordinary techniques to rehabilitate a recently released petty thief. Also scheduled: the boys in three of their classics shorts — “One Good Turn” with Billy Gilbert, “Me and My Pal” with Finn, and “Busy Bodies” with Charlie Hall. And if that isn’t enough, we’re topping it off a great wartime short, “The House I Live In” with Frank Sinatra.

Want to join the New York City Tent of The Sons of the Desert? Find out how!
